Happy 44th Ronnie

44 years ago today me and my best friend got married... He said "I reckon" and I said "I do" and our wedding music was my Mama and his mother crying.... no kidding
Why you might ask... well he was only 16 and I was only 17 and everyone in the entire community didn't give us a snowball chance in hell of making it but "just look at us now"

We were in Birmingham last night and good friends Irene and Paul Latham treated us to the best steak ever... thanks thanks thanks

While we waited at the restaurant for them to join us, we sat at the bar and Ronnie had a beer.... the bartender asked if we was celebrating a special occasion and Ronnie said well tomorrow is our 44th wedding anniversary and the lady said (hoping for a bigger tip I guess) why I thought you was boyfriend and girlfriend... how nice. when people stay together.  Ronnie pointed at me and said, "That is the meanest woman in Zip City."  (he always says that)  The woman looks at me then looks back at Ronnie and says..."Ahhh but you like because you look happy."

Here hoping you look happy everyday.

Happy Birthday to my Baby

My son is 39 today... seems like only yesterday the nurse came into my room just a few hours after I delivered a 9lb 15 oz baby boy and asked.... Mrs. Weaver you son will not stop crying.  Can we bring him to you.  Bless his sweet heart... the minute they put him in my arms he snuggled and started snuffing ... his entire body would shake.  They left him with me the rest of my hospital stay except during visiting hours.  That was almost unheard of in those days.  My husband didn't even get to hold our children until we started home with them.

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday Pumpkin Head we love ya.... yes he was a red headed baby

Summer is here

So it went from low 80's to nearly a 100 in a matter of a couple days... but the humidity is what hurts.  Lexie, my dog, stood looking at me today when I was working in the flower beds.... I said ... What do you want?  She walked to her water bowl and flipped it... spilling water everywhere.  She looked back at me and of course I understood what she wanted.  Ice water... she is so spoiled.

I went to look at the land my son had cleared to make pasture for cows.... so sad to see all the trees gone but he needs the land for cows.

And finally, just so y'all don't think I'm a "kill every varmint you see" type person... which I am for the most part... Ronnie heard something in one of the back stalls at the barn... went to see what is was and guess what he found..... a five foot chicken snake trying to climb the wall.  He moved to watch it and put his arm on a bigger one stretched across the stall door.  He let both of them live.  Maybe they will help with the bird and mouse problem at the barn.  Ron's dogs won't let a cat live long at the barn.

Grow every day

Another gem of wisdom my Granny would say... "Grow every day, in knowledge, in friends in faith.
I've got the knowledge part... I really do like to learn about new things.  I also like to try new things but not as much as I did when I was young.

Now the friend part... I know tons of people but I have very few I call friend.  So every decade is more like what I tend to do with friends.

In faith, I wish I could ask Granny "Faith in what?"  I know in my heart she meant God and I've got that but faith in my country nope.... faith in people, nope... so my question would be to Granny.... How can you be true to yourself and still have faith in people?  Her answer would most likely have been... Do what you can, forget what you can't and treat everyone like you would want them to treat you.  A smile goes a long way and a kind word might be what that person needs to make it though the day.

Okay the smile and kind word part I might need to work on.

Here's smiling at you and the kind word... dream big, love with your entire being and fight for what you believe in.

take me out to the ball game

I love baseball... every scratching, spitting, dirt kicking minute of it.  Oh I don't sit and watch it every second... nope just look in on a game every thirty minutes or so and you've got it.

I kind of watch movies that way.... no wonder I don't know what they are about.

Do y'all know if they have released the drug for AAADD?  Don't know what that is... Well  it is

Frustrating Day....

All was good until about 3 pm then everything went wrong.... first I should not have went to look at my garden just after a rain... muddy muddy and grassy grassy and of course I had to hoe some of the worst weeds.... my green thumb is a little brown this year... or maybe it's the crazy temps

Then I went to the chicken house and lordy lordy...I have two hens that hatched out chicks and they had been fighting.  The other "no mama hen" chicks were huddled in a corner afraid to move.  So I put the hen with the older chicks in the big pen and first thing she did was jump on my buff that is sitting on eggs in a nest.  So I guess you could say I was having a chicken fight today... and let me tell you those girls went at it.  At first, I was going to let them settle this among themselves but they would not stop.  So I built a little fort around the buff hen's nest but the old mama hen would not let her back on her nest .... what did I do... I flogged that hen pecking at her with my fingers like she was getting the other hen.... I know someone should have been taping it but I settled the fuss and everyone calmed down.  Chickens really are stupid creatures but I so love to watch them... old mama hen  better be glad or she would have been in the stew pot tomorrow.

Great day with my oldest Grandbaby

First off day in like a hundred years... okay maybe just two weeks but it felt like a hundred years... went to a fundraiser pancake breakfast where Jase was helping out.... planned to go watch Lake ride afterwards but Jase says "Granny, why don't I go see Aunt Stella with you and then we can go to yard sales."... oh yea, forgot to tell y'all that Aunt Stella is in the hospital with pneumonia but is doing well.
How could I not change my plans and spend the day with my busy... working girl grandbaby.  Loved it.
