And a Dog

The world looks better from the back of a horse and the roads of life are easier with a good dog beside you.

Lake... Sweet Sixteen

Better late than never right... my middle granddaughter turned sixteen Thursday.  If you live in north Alabama watch out ... she is driving.

Happy Birthday a little late ... I did tell her on her birthday, just didn't blog about it.  And yes Lake I love you just as much as Kane and Jase... I'm old and slow.

I believe there are angels on Earth

I can't say I've felt this way many times in my life but I know for a fact I sat next to one Saturday.  Carrie you inspire me to be a better person just with your smile.  I met this lady two years ago... got to know her a little last year but have had the pleasure to really get to know her this year.

See you should get to know a person...  this lady has put a mark on my heart.  She is an angel hiding her wings.  Her family is so lucky to have her.

I love it when a person talks, laughs and cares about you and your family.  I love the South where warm cokes, greasy hamburgers and the strong smell of horses makes for a perfect day.

life is good

Went to a ranch sorting and watched Ron and Lakelynn be the first losers in nearly every class.  They both rode great but others rode just a little better and/or had better luck with the cows.

Today, I got to dig in the dirt.  I put the little baby chicks in with their older sisters.  They didn't like each other.  Got 25 new babies coming May 7th... that is all for this year... promise... errr maybe

Flowers are going great and next week I hope to get my garden spot plowed.  I love my life.  No money but so much that makes my heart happy.

Oh yea, another reason life is good... Ronnie is happily cutting grass and working in the pasture on the tractor... he is happy.

Rain, Rain and more Rain

Yes I know all my freshly planted flowers need it... yes I know the animals need it... yes I know every living creature on earth needs it but really... for the last four off days that I've been home... we won't count Saturday and Sunday because I wasn't really off...rain!

Either God doesn't want to see me totally completely (it’s bad when I use two adverbs) happy digging in dirt or Ronnie has a deal with the Devil to get me to clean, iron and wash.  Check out the picture to see which one I think is true.  Sigh... I'm going to dig in wet dirt in the rain... I'm desperate... I mean really it's Spring... I have to have dirty fingernails.

Don't let your married kids go on vacation in July!

Why?  Well you'll get most of your grandbabies born in April like me.
Y'all saw Jaselynn in last weeks post.  Well my only grandson will be thirteen April 17th
Posting a little early because I have a super busy week and he doesn't read my blog like Jaselynn does so he will never know I posted early unless someone tells.
 Happy Birthday, Kane

Happy Birthday to my Sweet Granddaughter

Today is Jaselynn's birthday... she was my first grandbaby and has always been everything a Granny could want in a granddaughter.

Big Happy Birthday... I would sing but I know how much that hurts your ears :)

Only 19 Peeps when I got home

My husband is not a good mother hen.... I leave him with 20 healthy baby chickens and he lets one die ... I was only gone three days.

He did feed the dog and even threw the ball for her... he fed the other 70+ chickens... and drum roll please... he mopped the kitchen floor??? What the heck is going on... ??

And for all of you that followed my blog last year... I kill the first chicken snake of the year today... for all of you that have not read my blog before... I only kill chicken snakes at the barn because if I didn't I would have no baby chickens or eggs.

I've also trapped two possums and one raccoon... It's like my chickens have to over-come Jurassic Park to live.

Re-potted ferns all day... those buggers have a mean root system when they're root bound but I turned my three big pots into six big pots but small ferns that will grow

Filled all the bird feeders and cleaned the carport...whew I'm pooped just writing about it.

Reviision is a nasty tasting word

Revision leaves a bad taste in your mouth and if you squint just right it will look like television and then you can say..."I never do it, I rather read."
But if you write you have to revise.  I attended a SCBWI revision workshop this past weekend and came home inspired.  Workshop was the correct word because at the end of each day all of us looked like kindergarten teachers on the last full day of school... in other words... Whooped.

Here are the mighty pens in search of a Newbury or NY bestseller in the first ever retreat.

Thanks so much to Courtney Stevens, your energy level was amazing and what a great job you did as fearless leader of the workshop.

Spring has sprung

These are not my first chicks of this season.  Their older sisters are already in the chicken coop but are still confined so varmints won't eat them.

These babies were hatched on Tuesday, do that makes them four days old.  I hope Ronnie is a good mother hen since I'm leaving these babies with him this weekend.
