Trousdale Tosses Complete Game in ASC Tourney Opener

AUSTIN, TX - Mississippi College senior left-hander Scott Trousdale tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over McMurry in the opening round of the ASC Tournament Championship Round.
With the win, the Choctaws (21-22) advance to the winner's bracket of the tournament to face either Concordia (TX) or Texas-Tyler at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Trousdale struck out four batters and walked just one as he threw his third complete game and first shutout for the Choctaws this season. The game lasted just 1:43 and the Florence, AL native threw all nine innings with just 105 pitches.
Scott got stronger as the game went along, retiring 18 of the final 19 batters he faced with a single by Aaron Warren in the seventh being the only hit allowed over the final five innings.
Spencer Smith of the War Hawks (21-23) was equally as impressive on the mound, allowing just four hits and one earned run over a complete game effort.
MC got the lone run of the game in the second inning on a two-out single by junior Josh Perez that scored junior Pate Shackelford. Senior Daniel Wass led the Choctaws with two hits, including a double.
Andrew Bell of McMurry led the team with two hits.
McMurry will move on to an elimination game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when they will face the loser of the Concordia (TX) vs. Texas-Tyler game.
