And a Dog

The world looks better from the back of a horse and the roads of life are easier with a good dog beside you.

The Report is in

I'm not as fast at grooming as I once was but maybe I have more time and just don't feel the need to stay in full throttle all the time.  I'm enjoying my new job... it's different but good.
My garden is doing great... got squash and zucchini yesterday and peppers nearly every day.
My baby chickens are doing well and are allowed play time outside the coop everyday... about two hours.  I might need another job to keep them in Chick feed.
Sheila Renfro, my friend that moved to Florida, is visiting.

All in all, the week is off to a great start.

The Bull Mastiff picture looks like the dog I bathed yesterday... by myself... the dog weighted more than I did and he wanted to hold my arm in his mouth while I bathed him.  I was delighted he was a sweet dog or someone would have gotten hurt .... ME

Eclectic or Versatile

Irene sent me the Eclectic Blogger Award... Thank you ... Thank you very much
Irene Latham for the award.

Here are the rules for the Five People I nominated:

The rules:
  • Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  • Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  • Next, select 5 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.
  • Nominate those 5 bloggers for the Eclectic Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
  • Finally, tell the person who nominated you 5 things about yourself

1. Of course it would be Irene's blog because she does cool interesting things and I always wish I had been along for the ride. Irene Latham

2. The Rustic Chick this young lady is creative, smart and wise beyond her years.  Always enjoy reading her outlook on life and seeing her great photo shots.

3. Barbara O'Connor a site that will help any beginner writer

4. Wanda Stricklin Robertson this lady lives in the same town as I do, writes wonderful, uplifting blogs and takes great photos.

5. Amy Jane who loves all animals and she is starting a new journey in the fall that I want to view through her blog.

6. Sarah Campbell I'm doing six because Irene has already answered five questions.  Sarah is one of the smartest, nicest, creative people I know.

.

Okay Irene....Five things about me.... hummmm

1.  My love for family and friends is an aybss.  Don't mess with people I love because I make fighting pit bulldogs look like meowing kittens.

2. I love my dog, my horse and my chickens

3. I love storms... I get a crushing desire to jump on my horse when the wind is howling

4. I like to watch things grow... in the garden, quilts as I put pieces together, kids

5. I can't water ski... I've tried and tried but after nearly drowning because I fell and didn't turn loose of the rope, I've resigned myself to the fact there is something I can't do

The picture is not one of my quilts... it is a wish quilt that I WILL NOT make myself because all those small pieces would send me to the loony bin but if anyone wants to surprise me with a quilt that I would love... here it is ... hahahahahahaha.... now I'm not going to hold my breathe until I get one

Puzzled By Pink by Sarah Frances Hardy

I've always been a girl who was puzzled by pink. No ballet slippers, magic wands or fairy wings for me. I'm more like Izzy.

This picture book is a fun story of how siblings can be very different but the same... united in sisterly love.

Puzzled By Pink shows that everyone is made special and different but that is what makes the world so great... variety and spice.... or yes and a dragon! You'll have to read the book to figure that statement out. ;)

I spent time with Sarah Frances last Friday and enjoyed day with her and Irene Latham.  The book is wonderful and I love love love the illustrations.  My favorite is the picture of Izzy's tea party when Rose brings in pink cupcakes for everyone.

New Job and Cleopatra's Moon

Got a part time job... I will be grooming for Pet Depot two days a week.  All my part time jobs add up to a full time job plus.... Vicky http://historywithatwist.blogspot.com wanted to know last weekend if there was anything I couldn't or had not done...I can not water ski but other than that I've never tried to do something I couldn't do... I might not do it well but it got done.

If you've not read her new fiction book, Cleopatra's Moon, check it out.  How hard was it to be Cleopatra's daughter... and to lose your parents at a very young age.  Trust me you'll love it.  And doesn't the cover just call to you to pick it up.

Garden update...and mother's day stuff

I have a great crop of everything this year but since it has been raining the last few days the grass is racing ahead of the plants... I will post pictures when I can walk in it without going to my knees in mud.

Had a great mother's day and the kids listened and got me just what I wanted.

Irene isn't a kid but I'm old enough to be her Mama... she got me the rooster place mats and napkins... love them

Ron got me the Lowe's gift card and I did my birdbath with it

Missy got me the MP3 player that supports audio books... I emailed her the link three times... and I got the red one that I wanted.

Off to the pond to skip rocks with two youngest grandbabies and to feed the chickens.

Can you tell Kane didn't want his picture made... he would make a very good pirate, wouldn't he... I can all most hear an argggggg... wonder if we'll find tadpoles??

Mothers... how our perceptions of them change as we get older

When we are very young, they are our hero... protector... playmate

When we start school, they are our wheels to get to places... the troll that makes us study... the ogre that says no to everything

When we graduate from school and fly the nest...they are "get out of jail free ticket" ... restaurant owner that always has a plate of food ready for the cheap price of a hug...the voice of reason that you might or might not listen to

When you get married, they are there for you .... planning, encouraging, supporting

When you have children, they are there again... with advice you won't take because you like to make the same mistakes they made... always ready to baby sit... and they become the genie that can do all and make all things

When you reach retirement, they are old... happy only when you take the time to visit...

All stages of a Mother's life has one thread running throughout... that is love.  A Mother loves her children in bad times and good.

Happy Mother's Day to all my friends and family...

Fear, book five ot the GONE series

Okay I'm loving this book... of course I've liked all of the series but the first one was my favorite and the other three between good and okay but this one is as good as the first one.  This isn't a book for middle grade... violence and spooky weird in places.  I must like spooky weird... is that a genre??

I love how the characters change and they're not perfect... even the good ones do bad things.

If you like Sci-Fi   Read this series by Michael Grant.

Great American game... Trousdale style

I'm so proud of my nephew, Scott.  I was going to hold this blog for something special... Why???... It is my 500th blog post.  Scott you are special.  For those of you that don't know it, I was a Trousdale before I married.  Scott's dad is my brother.

Trousdale Tosses Complete Game in ASC Tourney Opener
Trousdale-ASC
Box Score
AUSTIN, TX - Mississippi College senior left-hander Scott Trousdale tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over McMurry in the opening round of the ASC Tournament Championship Round.

With the win, the Choctaws (21-22) advance to the winner's bracket of the tournament to face either Concordia (TX) or Texas-Tyler at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Trousdale struck out four batters and walked just one as he threw his third complete game and first shutout for the Choctaws this season. The game lasted just 1:43 and the Florence, AL native threw all nine innings with just 105 pitches.

Scott got stronger as the game went along, retiring 18 of the final 19 batters he faced with a single by Aaron Warren in the seventh being the only hit allowed over the final five innings.

Spencer Smith of the War Hawks (21-23) was equally as impressive on the mound, allowing just four hits and one earned run over a complete game effort.

MC got the lone run of the game in the second inning on a two-out single by junior Josh Perez that scored junior Pate Shackelford. Senior Daniel Wass led the Choctaws with two hits, including a double.

Andrew Bell of McMurry led the team with two hits.

McMurry will move on to an elimination game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when they will face the loser of the Concordia (TX) vs. Texas-Tyler game.

Ideas Ideas... what to do with all of them

If you're a writer I sure you're just like me and have ideas spring into your mind and you never have a pen and paper when they do.... have you ever thought about why this happens??
Here's my idea on the subject.... idea... get it???

The biggest reasons ideas come to us when we're driving, taking a bath, cooking supper, at work or school, in the world between sleep and awake.... we are not thinking.... our inner self is hummmm a little tune as our outer self does what needs to be done and because we do it all the time it's like breathing... we just do it.

Now, I wish I could do something to put myself in this spot when I'm ready for it.  I can get there for other writers when I'm brain storming with them but for my writing, it never shows up when I ready to grab it.

I carried a recorder for two weeks once and not one idea slammed into my brain... the first day I let it home I had two great ideas and had to write them on my hand.

So I've got another idea... I'm going to get one of those pens that are a necklace... that way I will always have pen and skin when those ideas visit.

And the thunder rolled....

If my husband was a smarter man he would have had a camera last night to video the happy dance I did in the rain.  He told me I looked like a drowned rat and was acting crazy.  Well if the shoe fits...I love thunder and lightning... it must be the Scottish blood ... or Indian blood.. or maybe the Irish blood
Now if children doctors knew everything I would be terrified of storms.  My mother would put us under a bed if it thundered ...  even if it didn't rain we were under a bed.

My brother and I kept toys under the bed and a flashlight.  Had us some good times while Mother walked from the front door to the back door stressing out the entire time.
I remember one good whipping I got when I was fourteen.  My boyfriend brought me home from the river when it started raining and I ran into the house during the storm.  Lightning struck close to the house as I was running, I saw the flash but didn't feel anything until I got to the door... Mother grabbed me by the arm and pulled me inside slapping the tar out of my backside the entire time... it wouldn't have hurt except I had on a bathing suit.
