Trousdale Christmas tonight

It's my family's Christmas tonight. It will be the first time we've not done presents for all the kids but then again most of the kids are nearly grown. We're doing Dirty Santa. I'll let you know how that goes.
I truly miss my mother during the Christmas season. She married my dad and he moved her to Alabama (she lived in Rhode Island and was born in MA).. she never spent Christmas with her family again. Sigh I saw her cry every Christmas and didn't understand why but now I do. How sad to never be with your family at the Christmas time. I know she thought she had to make Christmas special for us but I wish I had told her thank you for putting us first. I was 27 when she died but I still miss her everyday.

Today word: sacrifice -- destruction or surrender of something for the sake of something else b : something given up or lost

Sacrifice is a daily chore by parents.

Not spending holidays with family is difficult. But your mom, inspite of missing her birth family, DID have family to spend the holiday with- hubby and kids.

OK, being Jewish, I have no clue what "Dirty Santa" is and the ideas I imagine don't seem especially family-friendly! So fill me in...
Wishing you a wonderful holiday and a healthy New Year!

Twenty adults, twenty presents, twenty numbers... each person draws a number and you start opening gifts 1-20... when it's your turn you can either take a gift that has been opened or open a wrapped one. The person you take from can either take one from someone or open a wrapped one. It was funny last night, the guys did more Dirty Santa than the girls. It was a good night.

Happy Hanukkah or is it Chanukah I looked up how to spell it so I could wish you a happy holiday and now I'm confused. Could you tell me which one should be used. :)
