The world looks better from the back of a horse and the roads of life are easier with a good dog beside you.

Just Dance

If you have not played this game on the Wii you've missed tons of fun and good exercise. I played against the grandkids and yes my son video taped it and said he was posting it on YouTube. Nobody will know it's me, he took it from a rear flank position.
You can have a great time with your family without sunshine or lots of money. All around a really great day... spent time with my friends and enjoy my family.

So much fun last night

Dark clouds rolled in just as Irene and her family arrived in Florence. By the time we got to the small family owned restaurant the bottom fell out. Being the brave souls that we are we went the the Helen Keller play anyway. We were wet but that didn't smother the inspiration of the play. I've seen the play many times but tears came to my eyes when Helen knew water. I forgot my camera but this is a pretty good image of Irene's two oldest Andrew and Daniel.

Never too old

Dixie is the lesson horse at the barn. She belongs to oldest granddaughter, Jaselynn. Dixie is 18 years old but still works nearly every day with a lesson or two. We do not jump her, even over small jumps... her joints just wouldn't take the stress. She looks pretty good for an old girl, doesn't she.

Never new words, just new people saying them

My Dad will be 81 this August. We're so much alike that sometimes we butt heads. I look like my Dad. The funny part about getting older is that you start to sound like your parents. Have you ever said... I'll never do my kids that way or I'll never say that to my kids... well you better get a knife and fork because you will be eating crow.
I find my mouth blabbing the same phases, sentences and words my parents, grandparents and aunts said to me.

Kids today don't know how to work.
Kids today have no respect for themselves or others
Party, Party is all you think about
Things that come too easy is never appreciated

Do any of these sound familiar?

Happy Father's Day Daddy.

Just so you know

Here is Lake on her horse Sandy... same smile same joy of horses. Joy is a funny creature, what gives one person joy gives another heartache. If you had to write a joyful experience for a character how would you show it? Here is a short blurb from one of my earlier short stories that I've not done anything with but ... that is another story

Adults don’t like snow!

It was New Year’s Eve 1963. I stood at the picture window, my eleven-year-old heart pounding with excitement, and watched snow float silently to the ground. My brother and I whispered about all the great things we were going to do come morning. Things we had only read about or our northern-bred mother had told us about. Sledding, snow angels and snowball fights were first on our list. Little did we know that tomorrow we would discover a shocking aspect to adult behavior?
Northwest Alabama woke up to the amazing sight of 18 inches of snow covering the ground. As my brother and I squealed with delight at the new adventure before us, our parents looked out the window frowning.

Ride what you have and love it

When I look at this picture, I think... It doesn't matter that the horse is just a wooden rocking horse... Lake is enjoying every minute. She now haves a real horse and she still has that look in her eyes when she rides.

I've got to do better

I was looking at some old pictures and this one triggered memories of how much fun those 20 mile horse rides were. This was Nuggett, who was 5 years old when the picture was taken in 1992. I sold him to a good friend 13 years ago when Ronnie got hurt so bad.
Peace is riding on logging trails with no utility wires, phone wires, no traffic sounds and a good horse. I'm going to start riding more... why do we stop doing things we love to do?
