Writer on a Horse
And a Dog

The world looks better from the back of a horse and the roads of life are easier with a good dog beside you.

Barn Fright

Here is my entry to  the 3rd annual Halloweesie Contest sponsored by Susanna Leonard Hill.  The rules of the contest are simple: write a Halloween story in 100 words or less.  It can be scary or funny, poetry or prose, but it must be appropriate for children and include the words spooky, black cat, and cackle.

Barn  Fright
When Spooky clops through the dark barn, mice scurry in front of his hooves.  His ears twitch when chickens roosting in the rafters cluck and cackle at being disturbed.  Spooky snorts at the eerie figures the moon paints on the wall.
 Wait! What is that?
Yellow eyes stare from the corner.
Spooky shakes his head to show his is not afraid.  But when the eyes leap toward him, Spooky bolts from the barn.
A black cat curls up in the corner.  The barn is quiet again.

I post this every year at Halloween

Why?  Because it makes me happy to read it and wish... no not really... if my stuff was good enough they would have bought it.  Not a perfect poem but still fun.

Halloween Wish

Lizard tails and pheasant feathers
Leaping frogs and rejection letters

Boils, warts and scaly skin
Afflictions no medicine will ever mend

Cross their eyes and rot their teeth
Make them regret rejecting me

I know I wouldn't have known this was my grandson if I had not seen him put the mask on

Depiling my piles

Is Depiling a Word???

Here's the deal... I'm piler, yes I know there should be a clinic somewhere to help people like me.  When I clean or organize, I make piles... books, things I need to file, things I want to keep, goodwill things, season things that need to be put up until next time.... you get the picture.
Well while I was sick I started piles...one day we was going to have out of town company and "Good Grief"  what to do with these piles.  I moved all the piles to the hall closet and piled them in one big pile.
I'm happy to say I have depiled the pile.  All is right in my world again.

But WAIT  I've started it again.... does anyone know of a support group for pilers?
I've started putting things up for my Christmas stuff  one picture below isn't too bad but the last one... of my gosh!!!

Christmas time is coming... Christmas time is coming.

Got to say it.... Roll Tide Roll

I get so mad at everyone saying that Alabama is on cruise control and that they will fall when they play someone big... really... A & M wasn't big
I want to say "Shut up and watch them"
But so what if we do lose... does that make us losers.... Heck NO
We are winners, in how we play ball, how we live life, how we treat others.

Alabama is a team of tradition, with loyal fans.

Sorry for the venting by I really don't like some of the ESPN guys that wants to see teams lose and bad playing or on the coaches part calling.  I wish I could pick their playing calling apart on national TV like the pick this great sport of football apart.

I like Oregon they have a good team.  If they play Alabama or any other team... it will be a good game.
Win or lose Bama, I will cheer.... but to get the victory dance you have to win... believe it or not I did that dance for Auburn this weekend... and lightning didn't strike me dead or my Granddaddy didn't come back to haunt me.  I'm not going to push my luck... it won't happen again this year.

I'm replenished in mind and renew in body

Sometimes it takes a situation to make you slow down and smell the roses.  Two weeks after my surgery, I was so sore it didn't bother me to be lazy.... But when that ended I nearly went crazy.  Now for those of you that don't know me, I only sleep 5 to 6 hours.... That leaves a long gap of time to fill.
It has been nearly six weeks now and I'm happy to report that my "to do" list is much shorter and I'm feeling great.
I was reading on the front porch yesterday, enjoying the rain that was falling and my wind chimes tinkling, and I realized that I felt calm... I mean really a peace with everything.  Maybe I can keep this going when I go back to work... Going to try.

I've been catching up on new released books, reading ( but I'm still a tough on author reader), writing, quilting and organizing  my cabinets.
I wish I had a magic pill that could give everyone this feeling.  Slow and easy really is better.
These are not pictures of my porch but the tranquil feeling is the same.
