And a Dog

The world looks better from the back of a horse and the roads of life are easier with a good dog beside you.

Being a Mommy when you're just a kid

That is what I did 43 years ago today. I was eighteen and poor and totally happy. No my baby didn't get a college fund set up when she was born (good thing since education wasn't really her idea of fun... I mean really she went to a two year junior college three and a half years and still didn't graduate), My baby didn't have a perfect nursery... no she slept in a crib next to our bed for two years because we lived in a small house that only had one bedroom, my baby didn't have all the things money could buy but... she went everywhere with me and her Daddy... we played with her, took her to parks, swimming, horse riding,  we did anything she wanted to try.... we took our kids camping every summer and it was really camping where you slept in the back of a pickup with a camper shell and the only light at night was a campfire. I was room mother, team mother, take to the game mother, football, basketball, baseball, cheerleader practice ... haul the drinks, sell the tickets, ask for donations, sit in the rain (even at a basketball game but that is another story)

Melissa Anne has two beautiful daughters of her own now and she might not think her old mother is right about anything... except how she was raised... she has pretty much raised her girls like we raised her... except they get anything they want. Spoiled but that okay they're my grandbabies.

Love ya Missy Pooh... no matter what color you dye your hair.

Don't pay the ransom, I escaped

I figured y'all thought I've been kidnapped or something... well I sort of was... life captured my time and held me for ransom but I escaped and I'm back to doing fun things like saying HI to all of my friends. the picture is of my beautiful grandparents Velma and Logan (senior) Trousdale. Not really sure when this picture was taken but I don't remember them looking like this so I would say late forties or early fifties.

The joys of being a sloth

Saturday was my first weekend that I didn't work or have holiday events to get ready for ... my first weekend to do nothing...and I didn't
I slept to 7:30 am thanks to sinus medicine and moved from the bed to the couch ... it took hours to convince myself that I needed to get something to eat or to go the bathroom... okay maybe just minutes on the bathroom.
I napped, then when I woke up decided that nap made me tried and napped to get over the first nap.
I watched movies all day ... sort of ... watched parts of movies .. stayed in my pj's and remained stinky.. because it just took to much energy to even think about a shower.  Finally at 9 pm I got off the couch and went to bed... I was back to normal the next day but let me tell you that day of being a sloth was wonderful.
Here's hoping you get to be a sloth one day soon.

Old Saying.... If it rains on the first day of the month

It will rain fifteen days that month.... really?? We'll see won't we.  Ronnie showed me an old Farmer's Almanac that said how goes the weather on the first day of the year will be how the year will go... really?  I don't like all this gloom.... yes it was raining today... damp, cold day but everyone was going to stay inside today anyway and watch football, right.

If rain drops were kisses, everyone would dance in it.
If snowflakes were secrets, everyone one would raise their face to listen.

This week started my reduced work load... You better get ready Sandy girl... Thursday is going to be the day we meet for the first time this year.

I don't know about all of you but I ate too much today.  If black-eye peas are really for money ... well I'm going to be rich and if hog jowl is really for luck... look out Tunica... because I'll be so lucky I would bust the bank.
