Ode to Spring

I had an Aunt, who lived in Rhode Island, that would get grouchier and grouchier as winter progressed.... I understand her problem now.  Three weeks of below freezing weather and I'm ready to move... not really but it has made me appreciate our mild weather.  It's going to get in the high 40's today and I'm pulling out the flip flops and suntan lotion.

I've made a mind blowing discovery... we (humans) always expect the best situation to happen because it's been that way for 10 years... really?? we are considered an intelligent species .... winter is cold... you will get snow, ice and freezing weather... if you live in the south expect problems on the road if it snows... you don't need to drive on ice to get bread and milk because it will be 58 degrees tomorrow or the day after... you can survive.

Now that I've poked fun at my comrades of the south, let me say it makes me really mad for northerners to poke fun at the people that were involved in this last weather event.  ICE people... lets see you drive on it without plows, salt, snow tires, EXPERIENCE and one more point... our kids were in schools 10 to 15 miles away not four blocks.  Walk in our shoes before you think we're over reacting.

What?  Put myself in y'alls shoes... no thanks, all of you will still be cold in April when I will be wearing shorts and flip flops!!!!!

 Bless y'alls hearts.

Springtime is a comin... Springtime is a comin.... What should I plant in my garden?

This little chick went to the post office

How many of you know that baby chicks are shipped via the US postal service.  You have to order at least 15 to 25 (it all depends on which company you order from).  What about water you might ask... well baby chicks don't eat or drink for the first three days.  If hatched by a hen, they will stay in the nest for three days.  The mother hen might eat the egg shells but the babies only worry about warmth.

So you're asking yourself, where is the blog post going???  Why to my list of baby chicks I want of course.  Help me out.  Which one do you think I need to order.

I know I'm getting 25 Americana

All those differnt color eggs.

 But should I also get

Muse beware... I'm on a writing war path

Going to a Picture Book workshop next Saturday... been reading reading reading...one thing I learned about picture books... they all don't tell a story.  I do not like the ones that don't tell a story. Of course, I'm not a 4 to 8 year old but why would you listen to a book that doesn't tell a story.
After saying this, let me confess... Picture Books are hard to write.  Very, very hard.
But I'm up to the challenge  Three semi-polished and two in very rough draft.
Next, Madison has worked out her "meeting Oscar" problem is back on track... WHAT you don't know Madison and Oscar... well you will when this middle grade novel gets published. hehehehehe snort

And.... drum roll please...
I'm dusting off my romance novel ... polishing the first three chapters and heading to a six week continuing education class at University of North Alabama... Romance 101

Bet y'all was wondering about the hot pictures.  Johanna Lindsey is my favorite romance writer.

Heigh HO Heigh HO it's off to write we go..

Here is one of my favorite picture books... read it ... you'll love it

The Monster Who Ate My Peas

How far would you go to avoid eating your vegetables? A young boy thinks he’s discovered a way out of eating his peas—he makes a bargain with a fiendishly funny monster. First the deal is simple: the monster will eat the boy’s peas in exchange for his soccer ball. But with each new encounter, the monster’s demands escalate. Eventually, our hero faces a daunting decision—can he conquer his loathing for peas or will he lose his most prized possession?
Matt Faulkner’s uproariously detailed illustrations and Danny Schnitzlein’s Seuss-inspired verse combine to create a clever story about how far we are willing to go to avoid doing the things we hate.

all play and no work gets no pay.... yikes

Okay, I've been grumbling about working so many hours... so this pay period I only worked three days... Honey I almost owed Uncle Sam money... it wasn't a paycheck... nope  it was a crying shame someone had to print that check...Sigh... LOVED every minute I was off so it was a Pitiful / Win situation... still not going to work more... like being off

Water froze at the barn... Bless Ronnie... he was sick with what I had all last week (only worst of course) and he had to play in the water ... outside... all day Monday... ouch! Plus he had to water nine horses and eight cows with no water becasue the lines were frozen...

He had to get up early this morning (he's getting old and sleeps to 7 most mornings) to met the farrier... taking a nap right now.. Bless him,  he hates winter.  Besides being sick and all the problems at the barn... he's worried the pasture we sowed in November isn't going to make it... I keep telling him   "It's grass!  It will grow!  Don't worry!"  He doesn't listen.

It was a dark and stormy night

No really it's a dark and stormy night.  It went from 51 degrees to 29 degrees in just over forty minutes... it is now 23 and the wind just blew over my rocker on the front porch.
Brought the dog in ... she never sleeps outside but she does sleep in the garage on a human orthopedic mattress in a custom made dog house... when I put the beach towels in the utility room she looked at me like... "Really??"  Spoiled rotten dog.
Ronnie fired up the wood heater and it is toasted in the house.  He's grumbling that he has to stay up until 10:30 to put more wood in and will need to be up by 6 in the morning to keep it going... poor baby

So my year started off terrible... quit my job ... then went back when differences were solved... been sick since New Years day ... had a bad headache then it bloomed into the crud... still not well.

Hope to post more in the coming days... I have project coming up and would love to share.

Check out these cool pictures I found of stormy weather... love them
