Writer on a Horse
And a Dog

The world looks better from the back of a horse and the roads of life are easier with a good dog beside you.

Is it a bird, is it a plane NO it's

The Sun!

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high

Doesn't sunshine just make you want to run barefoot through the yard even if it is only 47 degrees out there.

We have the pollen... where is the sun
We have the snotty noses and coughing... where is the sun
Tomorrow is April 1st .... where is the sun

I know why the sunshine made John Denver high... because in Colorado they almost hyperventilate when the see the sun.

Gosh I love spell check!!!

I want a POA

What is a POA, well grasshopper let me educate you. That is a Pony Of America and I want one.

Pouting because husband said no.

If anyone out there won the lottery and would like to donate about 3000 dollars to my fund, email and I will send address heheheheheheaasnort

I've never owned a horse that cost that much. I'm a 500 dollar horse person, did give 700 for a paint one time but brought it intending to sale it later. Oh yea, gave 600 for the last horse I owned -- like my horse not brought to resale. Nuggett was my horse for years and I rode him every weekend but when Ronnie got hurt and I wasn't riding, I sold him to a friend for 1800 and she was tickle to get him for that.

I really don't want a POA bad enough to give what it would cost to get a good one but I would like to own one.

I'm just in an ornery mood this afternoon.

Why would you leave God's country??

Mr. Mark Childress, this is the question I ask. I'm reading your new book and I find it totally entertaining. Since you don't know me, you wouldn't know this all most a miracle. Let me explain. I write and I critique, get the picture. I look for plot flaws, changing points of view and general "you could have said that better". I never look for grammar since my nickname is "Butcher of the English Language". I know my limitations. While reading your book I do not think about these things. Are they there? I don't know and I don't care. Love your story, Love your characters! I will be looking for your other books.

My one question, why would you leave Alabama for Florida???? You show your love and understanding for the state through your writing. I will be promoting your book and I hope you have a google alert so you can answer my question.

PS All my friends better beware... I'm reading burps from the book to anyone that will listen.

What is going to happen???

Okay fellow fiction writers... what is going to happen when it gets warm in New York... I mean it was 70 degrees just four days ago. What if someone let it loose to kill a ex-wife or ex husband or ex girlfriend. Don't you know the worker that discovered that snake missing was scared death that snake might have been behind him.

I wonder if Harry Potter visited the zoo that day????

Here's the scoop -

A venomous Egyptian cobra is missing from the Bronx Zoo, forcing a shutdown of the reptile house while zoo officials search for the animal.

However, New Yorkers can breathe easy: Bronx Zoo officials say they are "confident" that the 20-inch (50 centimeter) long serpent is curled up somewhere dark and warm in an isolated, nonpublic area of the reptile building. With temperatures in New York hovering in the 30s and 40s (about 0 to 4 degrees Celsius), the snake is not likely to venture outdoors, said Stan Mays, the curator of herpetology at the Houston Zoo, who spoke to LiveScience about the species.

"That's a little cold for it to be out," Mays said.

My dog Lexie is mad

You would think she would be glad because I won't be stripping undercoat out any more. If you've followed my blog you have seen pictures of Lexie with her long pretty coat of shiny black hair. Well, I got sick of hair everywhere and fighting with her to comb her every day to keep the undercoat from making hotspots. Plus we have a tiny problem with poop on the long hair on her behind, but not anymore. And her hair was so thick around her ears no air could get to them and she was getting a ear infection from all this rain and her hair staying wet. You know it doesn't matter if it is raining, if a squirrel runs through your yard you have to chase it.

Everyone hates it... so of course I love it. Not enough to keep it this way but I don't hate it.

Rainy Saturday and quilts

I sewed over 575 three inch squares together today... my back hurts, my shoulders hurt but my heart feels great. Lakelynn, Kelsey (my want-to-be granddaughter...not blood but she is like a granddaughter to me) grandson Kane (who didn't do much on his quilt but he sure did keep the girls squealing) and Autumn (my great niece) worked on putting their quilts together... oh wait let me rephrase... they worked on lining up the pieces for me to put together. It was fun and they had a great day. You know it's all about making memories.

Thunder and Lightning

It's spring here in Alabama and that means the chirp of the birds is drowned out by the roar of tornado warning sirens. I know how irritating it is to have them interrupt your favorite program for the warnings but guess what.... we are not alone in this world and that might save someones life. Suck it up and deal with missing a few minutes of Idol or the Biggest Loser.
When it storms my Irish blood pushes forward and I want to stand outside my face toward the wind. My hands itch to hold the reins of a spirited horse and race with the storm with the mane of the horse beating my face and rain blinding my sight... sigh but my husband and kids think I'm crazy and pull me to the basement during storms. Hey maybe I'm like Percy Jackson and I'm half God... maybe Thor had affair with my human mother.... hehehehe my husband read this and said..."God no, devil maybe." It's so wonderful to be loved.

If I was a prissy girl

I would want to be like Liz Taylor. To me she was beautiful and just think everyone one knew her name. She had eight husbands... only one for me and never another one
From National Velvet, Lassie come home,A place in the Sun, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Cleopatra and Who's afraid of Virgina Woolf to her perfumes -- Passion, White Diamonds,Diamonds & Rubies, Diamonds & Emeralds, Diamonds & Sapphires and Black Pearls... She graced the world with romance, gossip and style.

My world is yellow

Oh my gosh, I have bats in the cave and snot on my face... pollen everywhere. I've never understood how the bees are the only transporter of pollen... my goodness all the flowers have to do is exist, that darn pollen is everywhere. Y'all have a sneezing good week and take meds and go outside anyway.

Hey has anyone ever seen someone sneezing that looked good.... hehehehehe

A picture is worth a thousand word... this works for me

If you look at everything with a fabulous outlook your life will be fabulous

Shake, Rattle and Whoa!

Great day with family but not so great day riding. Rode Scout, Granddaughter's horse that is only brushed, fed and not made to mind the rider. Fought him the entire day. But everyone else had a great time. Joe, my son-in-law rode the big horse, Ron my son has the cowboy hat on, Kelsey in the orange shirt is a border at the barn, Lake has the riding helmet on, Kane is redheaded and the most relaxed of us all because his horse did great...he was on Dixie. Erin my daughter in law has the pink cap on and her horse bounced her alot too. My fingers hurt from fighting the reins and there is really pain in the southern extremities, we all got sun burned on arms, faces, and necks and on top of everything my favorite jeans split in a place it can't be mended.

Taxes, baseball and St Patrick

First... Top of the Morning to you.... and the rest of the day for myself. My mother was half Irish, maiden name of Dugan. My Dad's father was Scot-Irish last name Trousdale. I've always said I have the blood of hot heads, fighters and farmers. Mother... Irish and German Father... Scot-Irish, French and Black Foot Indian.

Baseball... bring it on. The jarring crack of the bat and the call of "Play Ball" in the air. I'm a Braves fan and I've really not had much to get excited about the last few years... maybe this year will be better. Two granddaughters are playing this year...one is coach pitch and one softball. Grandson said there was too much sweating for him to play baseball but wasn't he cute when he did play.

Taxes... you have one month to "git-r-done"

I hate the months after Christmas

I have a big smile on my face... Why? Well the two months after Christmas I'm so darn broke I can't buy anything that's just for me. We've had such a hard winter, that two months was extended for a few extra weeks but I ordered new books yesterday. Yeah, I can add them to the ones I've not read that I ordered in the fall. No, really I'll read two of these for sure and hopefully all of them. Cross my heart and hope to .... nope I take that back... I cross my heart that I'll try to read them all. If you're looking for a good read, try the Gone series by Michael Grant or the Maximum Ride by James Patterson

The thought is what counts

Sometimes I look around in my office and feel so blessed. I have the little "I thought about you" treasures around my work area. My friends know me so well and give me special things. Irene wants me to do Easter as big as Christmas and started me off with that cute candy dish. Sheila is list maker and note taker and gives me the greats note pads. The cup is from Sheila too. The rock is from Irene and it is from the Crazy Horse monument... isn't that so cool. Pam gives me the greatest Christmas gifts and Lezlie gave me a teapot that also works great on hot chocolate. Jana gives little items that will help me with my writing. Thanks to all my wonderful friends, life would be so different without each of you in my life.

What does the future hold

It scares me a little to think what the world will be like for my great grandchildren. In my lifetime, I've seen so many changes. Will I live to see the day they find the cure for cancer. I remember my mother saying that she wondered if they would ever find the cure for polio. It was her greatest fear that me or my brother would be struck with the crippling disease.

Each generation have different fears but if we as the human race stay compassionate, moral and educated I think we can accept any change. But if we keep to the self destructive ways the majority of the world have and continue to worship money and power... well I think we're on our way to extinction.

Do you ever dream of simpler times where families ate together, prayed together, and enjoyed each others company?

I've got friends in low places...

I really love that song and its meaning. I watched Garth on a rerun of Oprah and he sang it.

Blame it all on my roots
I showed up in boots

Oh yes, I can see me doing that and then two-step around the room

And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to know
The last one to show
I was the last one
You thought you'd see there

Yep, a party is a party... the only difference is a redneck party is fun!

And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
And I toasted you
Said, honey, we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain

You can have her friend

'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low places

I'm blowing this place and going where people accepts you for who you are not who or what your money projects

Okay, got you go sing to the dog. Why? Well I know who I am, that is a person who couldn't carry a tune if she had it in a bucket. But I've got friends in low places... lalalala

Y'all have a great weekend. Got a friend visitin' this weekend and won't be doing the computer thingy.

I am a slacker but not for long

I have not stayed up with the books coming out or read like I should be reading or write like I should be writing. I've been a lazy housekeeper, friend and sister/daughter... the only place I've stayed the same is as Granny. Why have I been slacking???? well the bad winter made me jump the railing of my schedule and I've never really got back on track. I was stretched out on the couch yesterday like a slug and realized I really didn't want to be there but was doing it anyway, like from habit.
Do you get stuck in a rut and wish you could get out but can't seem to make it over the edge?? Make a list of what needs to be done the next day and push to do it. In a week your list will be finished by noon and you will feel better about yourself. The first few days you might have to transfer items from one day to the next but that is okay, the list is to keep them in front of you not behind or under the soft cozy blanket on the couch.

Oh my Gosh... I've caugth Nap-ist from my friends

Second nap in two days... what the heck is going on... I never, never take naps -- well that isn't true any more. I can't wait for daylight savings time to start next weekend. I like more daylight in the evenings.
Time to sit on the porch and soak up sun, play with dog, and rock. Man, life is good when you have a swing on a porch that faces the west and a dog that will play fetch.

Rainy Days in Alabama

We had a horse clinic today at the barn and of course it rained like the days of Noah... but it was cozy too... all the kids at the barn and dogs too (that was fun until Ella fell in a puddle and got in trouble) all the stalls had a horse looking out and the rain drumming on the metal roof. Rainy days are for old people as much as for the watering every thing outside... nice nap on the couch. Okay Jana, I can hear you yelling get to writing... I feel all refreshed now :)

Mean girls in my life

I have friends that can be mean girls. You know the kind that sends you emails that has a five word short sentence that points out things you should and should not be doing!!! And the really bad thing about it you know they're right. Soooooo here we go...I'm on writing schedule that one very good friend constructed for me and I will be whining alot the next month. I hate structure. Okay, 1700 words are being composed tonight and every night this month... oh my gosh...1700 words... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
I am woman hear me roar...meow... hehehehehesnort
I know I can do this and I will
Forever Graceland here I come.
